AMEC Lower Elementary Program  (First - Third Grade)  September 2013
The Lower elementary classroom at AMEC is designed to meet the intellectual, social and emotional needs of every child.     With a focus on the child's innate desire to explore, find connections,  research and answer questions; this environment provides  the opportunity for the child to engage and discover their passion for learning.  Accountability, self-motivation and independence are fundamental codes in the Lower Elementary classroom.  Elementary children are capable of limitless intellectual curiosity and concentration.  Inspiring  lessons are offered to spark the process as they learn self-directed learning, reasoning, abstract thinking and leadership.
Lower Elementary Curriculum
Math:  Four operations of arithmetic - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  Money, Time, Fractions, Properties of rectangles, circles, polygons and quadrilaterals, as well as identification of triangles by sides and angles
 
Language:   Phonics, word study, reading comprehension, spelling, handwriting mechanics, grammer.
 
Science:  Zoology, Botany, Physical Science and Experimental lessons
 
History:  Time - both calendar and clock.  Timeline of life is a central theme as the students explore the creation of the universe, role of humans on Earth,
                     United States History and government.
